What To Look for When Hiring a Web Design Company

When you decide to build a new website or re-design your existing website for your business, you are making a great move, but it can get overwhelming. Just Google the term Web Design and you will find thousands of web design companies, now Google the term Web Design (your city) Ex: ( Web Design Miami), and you will still find a lot of web design companies in your area. How do you decide which company to hire to design and develop your new web design project? Here are 5 cardinal rules when hiring your website design company: Compromise, Experience?, Portfolio, Services and Skills, Price

Compromise

First, you need to make sure that the company you will hire has the desire to work with you until you are completely satisfied with the quality of your site. Unfortunately, a website is not a product that you can see before you buy. Even if the web design company that you chose has many websites listed in their portfolio, all designs are different and every website should be built and designed according to your business and the point that you want to get across in the online market.

Experience

A lot of people will think that the number one thing that a web design company must have, is Experience. But I personally don’t agree.  Even though, experience can be helpful, it can also haunt you back. A well experience company might not be as flexible as a company with maybe, less experience or a smaller company. Think about this: Just like in any other business, a company that makes 50 websites a month won’t care if they lose one business by not being flexible and doing something out of the ordinary. Now, a smaller company might need that “one business” to close the month.

Note:  I want to state that the information in this article does not represent all web design companies, just some thoughtful ideas when hiring a web design company.

Portfolio – A Must Have

Another big thing to consider is how unique your web design will be. After looking at their portfolio you will get an idea of how unique their website design is. There are billions of websites online, and thousands from your competitors. So ask yourself, how is my website going to stand out from the rest? Ask your website design company to show you their portfolio. Even if their portfolio is not up to date (which it should) ask them to give you a couple of websites that they have worked on, so you can see their work.

Their Services and Skills

If you are looking to build a new website for your business and would like to integrate Social Media into your new website, look for a company that does both. When you hire two different companies to accomplish the same goal, it might get overwhelming. If you are looking to accomplish one goal with your website, ask the web design company that you are considering if they can do this for you. Skills such as: Content Management Systems, eCommerce Solutions, Web Development, Web Design, SEO and Graphic Design can be very different from each other and you might want to find a company that has the skills to do what you need to accomplish your goals.

Their Price

I believe that when hiring your web design company, you get what you pay for.  But it might not always be right. It does not mean that if you pay $8,000 for an extraordinary website, another company won’t do it for $3,000. When doing your research, pay attention to their pricing and come up with a price range that you think is reasonable for what you are trying to accomplish. Remember that the more you want, the more expensive it can get. So, when requesting a quote, make sure you include all of the little things that you want.

Conclusion:

Choosing the proper web design company can be tough, not only because there are thousands of options but because every company might be different and might offer slightly different solutions that may leave you confused. Choosing the right web design company is a big step because it may save you a lot of time and money. Finally, just hire the web designer that you liked the most, not only for their designs, or pricing, but because of the overall experience you had when you spoke to them. Simply, if you don’t have a good vibe about the company you are planning to hire, just don’t do it, there are many other option out there.
